November 2005

So, I am actually getting the newsletter out at the beginning of the month! I am pleased with the response to the previous newsletters and I welcome your comments.

This month I am reading The Molecules of Emotion by Candice Pert. She discovered a way to prove the existence of the opiate receptor in the brain and is one of the scientists featured in the film What tHe Bleep Do wE (K)now? If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. Who knew that quantum physics could be so much fun?

The Milne Institute’s Visionary Craniosacral Therapy class was even better than I had hoped it would be. The teacher, Regina Callahan from Eureka, California, rocked. She trained directly with Hugh Milne and is an amazing woman in her own right. The work is incredible and everyone I have used it with has gotten very positive results. I want to make these sessions as available as possible, so for a limited time, they will have a discounted price.

The Reiki class has been pushed back until just after the first of the year. I think everyone will have a little more time for it then. I can't think of a better way to start out the new year than with a Reiki class.

I have some news for those of you who have FLEX accounts or similar plans. I have learned that under certain circumstances, FLEX money may be used for massage and other bodywork. You must have a condition which can be treated this way. Think TMJD, fibromalgia, back problems, sports injuries, etc. You will have to check with the administrator of your account for specific information on how massage may be eligible.

My November Special is a craniosacral session for $45.00. for your first session. These sessions usually last about 90 minutes and will be priced at $80.00 after the introductory period. Also, I will be happy to work with you to come up with custom gift certificates for the holidays. I can even mail them for you so you don’t have to go shopping at all.

Happy Thanksgiving and as always, I look forward to seeing you soon.

October 2005

The first newsletter was met with such a warm reception that I thought I’d do another one. Maybe next month’s letter will get out a little closer to the beginning of the month. It seems that I keep getting busy just as I sit down to work on them.

I am reading Caroline Myss this month. She is a medical intuitive who has some very interesting thing to say about the healing process as well as life in general. Anyone who has ever tried to put mind over matter to heal themselves and been disappointed with the result may find some wisdom in her writing. Her books include Anatomy of the Spirit and Why People Don’t Heal and How They Can. She will be teaching a workshop here at the Crossings in May.

I am very excited about the opportunity to study with one of the Milne Institute’s teachers in a couple of weeks. You may remember that I have been reading Hugh Milne’s book and am planning on studying with him after the first of the year. In the meantime, I have the opportunity to take a workshop on crainiosacral therapy with Regina Callahan. She trained directly with him so I know it will be a great class.

I am considering teaching a Reiki 1 class in November or December. If you are interested in taking it, or if you know someone who might be, give me a call or email me. If you need more information about Reiki, please go to my website.

My October Special is an herbal wrap for $25 dollars when added onto a 30 to 60 minute treatment of any kind. Please be aware that the wrap itself will take about 25 to 30 minutes of your time and take that into consideration when booking your appointment. This luxurious treatment involves being wrapped linens which have been
moistened with an herbal concoction and kept warm and still for about 20 minutes while relaxing music plays in the background. Please book at least a day ahead of time if possible as this takes extra prep time on my part. This special will be in effect until I get the next newsletter published.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

September 2005

This is my first newsletter. I hope you enjoy it. I decided to start publishing a newsletter so that I can keep in contact with all of you and let you know about monthly specials, new skills and techniques that I acquire and keep you up to date on the latest news in the field of bodywork work. If you would rather not receive it, email me at jackie@jackiegaston.com and ask to be taken off my mailing list. You can also let me know if you would rather receive the email version and save a twig or two.

I have just finished reading Hugh Milne's The Heart of Listening, A Visionary Approach to Craniosacral Work. As you know, I have several years experience with craniosacral work and am always looking for ways to deepen my understanding of it and its effects. The insights that I have gained from this book have taken my work to a new level. I think will you notice a difference in your next session. I look forward to training at the Milne Institute next year.

I just returned from the Convention Center where I joined my friend Echo Bond. We did almost 3 hours of chair massage for people who have been displaced by Katrina. The Convention Center has pretty much become a city within a city. Most of the people with whom I had contact seemed to be very happy to be here. I honestly don't know how I would handle being in their situations. I am very proud of my community and how it has responded to this disaster. I know that the fabric of our city will be forever changed as our population increases. It will be interesting. I am thankful that I know where all my family members are.

My September Special is a free hand treatment with any session of an hour or more. Please book at least a day ahead of time.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
